There are two important Museum events for this week end. On the Saturday 16th September, we have the chance of a visit to the fascinating House Mill at Three Mill Island, in Bromley by Bow, a huge tidal mill, substantially intact. The Island also has a thriving film, TV and media industry, and the tour should be rivetting.

It is very important to us that we do not retreat into our shell, and that we show the interest and respect appropriate to the success of others, and which will make our own task so much easier to visualise and achieve. Contact Mary Hart or Sheila Harris at the Museum if interested.
Closer to home is the event we have organised for Sunday 17th September, at Ravensbury Park, to participate in the National Heritage Weekend, which is being celebrated by groups like ours all over the United Kingdom.
We are really fortunate that local historian Eric Montague has agreed to lead that walk, so that it will be fun, as well as informative. This will be a circular walk round the grounds of what was described in 1823 as ‘an extensive ancient mansion, with pleasure grounds and plantations, also of great extent' and visiting Ravensbury Mill, reputedly the last working water mill on the River Wandle.. Meet at 10.45 for 11.00 at Wandle Road park entrance. (2 hours).
