Surrey iron railway update

The bicentenary of the opening of the SIR is being celebrated on 26th July this year. Luckily this falls on a Saturday.

There are a number of celebrations, but we can confirm that in Mitcham there will be a blue plaque ceremony in the morning, and a reception at the Museum at (probably) midday, where we will be unveiling a new exhibition, and launching the new SIR booklet put together by Eric Shaw and Kevin Leyden. Thanks to the generosity of JohnYoung (of the brewery) and his family Trust, the balance of the printing costs are covered, and we are all looking forward to this.
